ABOUT
BERT
YANCEY
1938-1994
The Yancey Mental Health Tournament is a tribute to a man who overcame the difficulties of a debilitating mental illness to manage
a very successful career in professional golf. He posted seven tour victories and competed in eight Master's Tournaments, finishing
third on two occasions and in the top 15 five times. Through golf, Bert worked to increase the public's awareness of, and to reduce
the stigma associated with, mental illness.
The proceeds from this tournament go to continue the work of several Augusta area
agencies delivering programs to the mentally challenged. With the continuing support of the Bert Yancey Family, this tournament continues
to be a fitting memorial to Bert and to all who have struggled with mental illness.
A very special "thank you" to the Yancey
Family for allowing us to use his name and for their enduring support of the Yancey Mental Health Tournament.
NEWS
Thanks to support from area corporations and individuals, the 2009 Yancey Mental Health Tournament once again raised over $20,000
for the three agencies aided by tournament contributions: Mental Health America, the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance and the
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
